Shauna Wilkens

Shauna is a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario with a combined expertise in rehabilitation nursing within the hospital setting and as an outpatient case manager for catastrophic motor vehicle accident clients for 20 years.

She has a broad based knowledge of community-based resources in the Niagara Region with knowledge and experience in collaboration with rehabilitation teams in a hospital setting in regards to discharge planning as well as integrated rehabilitation in the home setting after discharge from hospital following a motor vehicle accident.

Utilization of her skill set as a registered nurse coupled with her in depth experience in case management Shauna is able to provide  excellent assessment of an individual and provide the development and implementation of a tailored rehabilitation program after suffering catastrophic injuries secondary to a motor vehicle accident.

Shauna has strong clinical, leadership, and management skills, and has fostered excellent interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationship skills.  She is skilled at treating alterations in functional ability and lifestyle that result from physical disability and chronic illness.  Shauna’s expertise has been highlighted in case management as well as functions of charge nurse in the hospital setting.

Shauna’s main priority has always been the maintenance of optimal health, quality of life, avoidance of further complications of disability, and return to an active role in the discharge setting.  Shauna is a strong supporter of research activities in the general field of rehabilitation as well as rehabilitation nursing.

Shauna recognizes the needs of all parties and the important role she plays in remaining objective to help meet the reasonable needs of the injured client and their family while providing case management services.

Shauna has earned her nursing diploma at Niagara College and is a member of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada.
